What this tool checks

GEO Score is a free, in-browser check that rates a draft on the six text signals AI answer engines use when they decide which passage to lift and quote — an answer-first opening, self-contained paragraphs, concrete citable facts, and more. ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Google AI Overviews build their answers by extracting individual passages, so a page that scores well is far more likely to be quoted (and credited) than prose that only makes sense in context. Fixing the flagged weaknesses before you publish is the cheapest way to make your writing citable.

What it looks at

Answer-first opener

The first sentence states the answer directly instead of warming up to it; AI engines lift openers that resolve the query on their own.

Self-contained passages

Each paragraph still makes sense when lifted off the page, with no unresolved 'this' or 'as mentioned above'; engines quote standalone chunks, not whole articles.

Question-phrased headings

Headings written the way people actually ask ('How does X work?') match the query an engine is answering and flag the passage beneath as the answer.

Citable facts and stats

Specific numbers, dates, and named entities give an engine something concrete and verifiable to quote and attribute, which plain assertions do not.

Clear definition sentence

A crisp 'X is …' statement is among the passage types AI engines lift most often; they frequently pull it verbatim to define the topic.

Scannable structure

Short paragraphs, lists, and tables map to how AI answers are formatted, making the relevant unit easy to isolate and extract.
